Resource Reminder!

Hello everyone! If you are a new student, welcome to Hofstra! If you are a returning student, welcome back to another exciting semester! I would like to introduce myself and welcome you all to the Career Center at Hofstra University.

First let me tell you a little about myself. I received my Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology and Sociology from Stony Brook University. I began working in higher education as an undergraduate in the Stony Brook University Career Center as a Career Counseling Intern. After graduating from Stony Brook, I worked at another higher education institution within Career Services. While working in this position, I also completed my Master of Science in Educational Leadership and Policy Studies, Higher Education Administration here at Hofstra University!

I am very excited to join the dynamic Career Center team at Hofstra University. I love helping students to grow professionally and personally in terms of career development and reach their full potential. My passion for higher education and working with college students has really made this an ideal career.

I will be assisting all students here at the Career Center, but I will also be the liaison to the School of Education. I encourage students from all majors, disciplines, and years to get involved with the Career Center and take advantage of all of the services we have to offer. It is never too early to begin your career development process!

We have a tremendous amount of resources including:
—  One-on-one appointments with career counselors
—  Access from the Hofstra Portal to The Pride-Career Management System ("Pride-CMS"). Here you can view and apply to thousands of job and internship postings, management of letters of recommendation and event listings.
—  Special event programming including annual Career Fairs
—  Career-related webshops on Blackboard
—  Employer information sessions and networking opportunities
—  On-campus recruiting programs for all majors
—  Mock Interviews and interviewing guidance
—  Walk-in "quick question" hours to develop and fine tune resumes & cover letters
—  Selecting and/or refining career objectives
—  Online Management of Letter or Recommendations/Credential Files (through Pride-CMS).

Remember we are here to help YOU succeed, so please take advantage of these resources!
