Soft Skills Matter: 5 Soft Skills to Showcase in an Interview

You have completed a degree and internships in your field, have a strong resume and cover letter, solid list of professional references and prove to be a qualified candidate on paper. You are getting calls for interviews, but you are not getting offered positions. You are disappointed, confused and you wonder, "how could this be?" One reason could be likability or "cultural fit." According to a U.S. News and World Report article, likability is the reason many candidates don't make the final cut.

The article discusses the concept of "emotional intelligence" or soft skills. Soft skills such as communication, attitude, time management, and critical thinking play a significant role in hiring decisions. The question is then, how can you demonstrate soft skills in a job interview? Read this article titled "5 Soft Skills to Showcase in an Interview" to find out what some of the most important soft skills are and how to demonstrate your emotional intelligence in an interview.
