Why is volunteering important?
- You play a role in helping others
- You get valuable work experience
- You increase your chances of landing a job
A study from the Corporation for National and Community Service
(CNCS) reports that volunteers are 27% more likely to secure a job than
non-volunteers.
If you're not sure where you can find volunteer opportunities, try LinkedIn.
LinkedIn now has a Volunteer Marketplace, where you can
search for volunteer postings by keyword, industry, job function, location, and
experience level. You can also identify LinkedIn connections who are working
with non-profit organizations so you can get their perspective on what it is
like to work or volunteer at their organization.
