Name: Noah Smith
Hometown: Niwot, Colorado (a small town 15 min outside of Boulder)
Major(s): Drama and Dance, minor in Musical Theater
When you were young, what did you think you wanted to be "when you grow up?":
To be honest, I don't remember 100%. I know that the traditional Fireman/Doctor/what have you made it into the mix, but I know that I truly realized I wanted to go into acting as a profession around middle school, when I started doing more than the children's theater camps around my area.
What career do you hope your first job after graduate will be?:
I hope to get acting jobs, however we all know that takes time. I will get a day job to support myself while I work on my craft.
What experience have you had so far that you think is best preparing you to reach that goal?:
Just being in shows. Inside Hofstra and outside of Hofstra, the best training is to just do the work.
What advice would you have for others who are pursuing this same career?:
All your resilience has to come from within. You have to figure out why you want to do this, and use that to drive you. In this business, others will support you, but there will be times when they won't, and you have to be prepared for that.
Who at Hofstra has had the biggest positive impact on you?
Kara-Lynn Vaeni. She is my professor this semester in my Acting for Shakespeare class, and even just getting to watch her work is an inspiration.
