Welcome back!
For many of you, you will be graduating with PRIDE this semester. Preparing for your future starts this semester! Here is a great checklist to make sure you are on track for SUCCESS!
¨ Review The Career Center’s online calendar for workshops, events, and speaker panels.
¨ Review many of our workshops/webshops online - register to view them on Blackboard via www.hostra.edu/career.
¨ Frequently use Hofstra’s Pride-Career Management System for job and internship postings from employers who are seeking out Hofstra students and graduates.
¨ Participate in The Career Center’s on-campus interview programs. Mandatory orientations are being offered through February (Education students' last orientation is Feb. 13).
¨ Meet with a career counselor early this final semester to discuss your future and job search plan.
¨ Update your resume and cover letter to reflect the jobs for which you are applying.
¨ If you have not done so already, it is not too late to try and apply for an internship during your final semester.
¨ Attend the Annual Spring Job & Internship Fair on March 7th from 11:30 a.m.-2 p.m. in the Mack Sports & Exhibition Complex.
¨ Use social media to your advantage! Network with professionals and Hofstra alumni on Linkedin. You are invited to attend “Insider Tips to Get You Linkedin” on March 13th at 6:30 in the Student Center Plaza Rooms, where Global LinkedIn Spokesperson and International Career & Workplace Expert Lindsey Pollack will give you advice on how to use this professional networking site.
¨ Talk with family and friends and connect to learn more about a career or job of interest.
¨ If you are pursuing graduate school, applications are due this semester, make sure you have completed all necessary steps including gathering letters of recommendation.
¨ Begin to discuss future housing and finances with your family.
Good luck!
