The Value of Alumni

Last night I attended the spring Zarb Alumni Association networking event.  As I looked around the room at the alumni shaking hands and exchanging business cards, I realized what a fantastic resource our alumni are to our students and graduates.

There was a mix of professionals there, from business owners who have put in their many years of hard work, to recent grads eager to move up the corporate ladder, to those who have recently been displaced and are looking for their next job.  But they all had one thing in common; they all know the value of networking and connecting with others.

You don’t have to wait until you graduate to make these connections with Hofstra alumni.  Many of our former students come back to campus to speak at events or participate in our mock interview or resume critique nights.  Many also visit student club meetings, career fairs and information sessions.  Hofstra alumni are everywhere!  Most of them are very happy to “give back” by assisting current students in their career and job search.

I encourage you to attend any event on campus where Hofstra alumni are present, even if it does not directly apply to your major or career.  Our alums have a great deal of experience to share in all areas of job search!
