Events for the Week of 10/7/13

The Fall Career Fair is WEDNESDAY!



As of today, we have 74 employers who are ready to #HireWithPride! Full-time and internship opportunities are available for all majors! Professional dress is required for all job fairs. Review the list of employers here before the fair, and bring plenty of copies of your resume!

Wednesday, October 9 from 11am-2pm in the Mack Arena

Looking for tips and tricks to make the most out of your visit to the fair? Come to our How to Work a Job Fair workshop on Monday, October 7 at 4pm in The Career Center!

Want to get your resume critiqued before you go? We are holding extended Quick Question Hours this week; Monday, October 7 and Tuesday, October 8 from 10am-Noon and 2pm-5pm.
There will be NO Quick Question Hours on Wednesday, October 9.

Zarb Alumni Accounting & Finance Mock Interview Night
Students majoring in Accounting or Finance will be able to participate in a practice, 30 minute interview with a Zarb School of Business, Finance alum. Pre-registration is required through your PrideCMS account. This event is open to undergraduate students only.

Branding Yourself to Employers
Join Jennifer Ward from Ferguson, a Wolseley Company, as she gives important tips on how to create your own brand and market yourself to potential employers! Pizza will be served. This event is open to undergraduate students only.

Effective Interviewing Workshop
Interviewing is a skill and The Career Center can teach you what you need to know to interview like a pro!  Topics covered include interview preparation, company research, appropriate attire, handling tough questions, behavioral interviewing and follow-up. This event is open to undergraduate students only.

Senior Seminar: Resumes and Personal Statements
Senior Seminars are monthly workshops that will help you transition from college to “real life.” Our goal is to make sure you are as prepared as possible for life after Hofstra!  Come to as many sessions as you can and each time your name will be entered for the chance to win Hofstra Senior Week tickets, a Hofstra diploma frame, or other great prizes! This event is open to Seniors only.

Student/CPA Networking Night
Are you ready to begin your career in Accounting? Join Hofstra University Accounting Professors and Career Center Staff at the New York State Society of CPA’s Student/CPA Networking Night. You will be able to meet employer representatives and alumni from CPA firms, discover career opportunities in accounting, sharpen your networking and interviewing skills, meet CPA review course representatives, circulate your resume among prospective employers and alumni, and meet students from other university accounting programs. Dinner will be served. Dress professionally, and bring copies of your resume!

STEM Fair at Columbia University
Junior, Senior, or Graduate Students interested in working in the STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) fields can attend this fair to meet potential employers! Only 50 spots are available. Students can register by visiting Pride-CMS.

IRTS Summer Fellowship Program

Students selected for this highly competitive, expense-paid program in New York City learn about opportunities throughout the media industry, in addition to interning at a specific company where skills are matched to a corresponding area of our business. Accomplished junior, senior, and graduate students from all majors (including math, liberal arts, computer science, business, marketing, communications, etc.) are encouraged to apply.

Applications are due Sunday, November 3 at Midnight
