Top Five Personality Traits Employers Hire Most

Forbes reciently published a really interesting and informative article about the top five personality traits that employers hire most. With all of our up coming career fairs and just as a general rule of thumb, it is important to familiarize yourself with these personality traits. These traits are important to think about when you are meeting employers for the first time at an interview or job fair and also going forward when you land a job or internship.

Managers can read you the second you walk in the room or up to their table at a job fair. That is why PROFESSIONALISM (86%), HIGH ENERGY (78%) and CONFIDENCE (61%) are the top three traits employers look for.  Interestingly, the article notes that confidence ranks highest on the list of skills companies think employees are missing most.

SELF-MONITERING (58%) and INTELLECTUAL CURIOSITY (57%) rank as close fourth and fifth traits. To highlight to your ability to self-moniter, adjust your resume language to call attention to work experience where you’ve worked independently or excelled without the guidance of direct leadership. Intellectual curiosity refers to a candidates ability to problem solve and dedication to learning new technologies or solutions that will continue to advance in the changing workplace.
