Last night, I had the opportunity to facilitate a senior
seminar workshop along side Suzanne Dagger, Interim Executive Director of The
Career Center. The goal of the senior seminars is to help prepare students for
life after graduation and I think they are a great idea. Our seminar covered
basic resume and cover letter writing, interviewing skills, and writing
personal statements for graduate school.
I had so much fun giving the workshop
mostly because the students were engaged and thinking. It’s always so rewarding
when students walk away from my presentations having learned something new and
valuable. Given that senior year of college is such a pivotal time in the life of a college
student, I can only hope that my presentation helped to make the transition
as smooth and unintimidating as possible. On that note, I encourage ALL seniors
to visit The Career Center with any questions or concerns. We are happy to help you and would love to help make your last year at Hofstra the best one yet!
Thank you to everyone who attended last night and a special shout out to Robyn Kaplan, Associate Director for Student Leadership and Activities, for putting together the senior seminars!
