Thinking Outside The Box

When it comes to your career there are times you need to think outside the box. Use the skills you have learned in a different setting. For instance, I met a student who was interested in fashion design in Paris, France. After a web search, an internship at Honda came up and wanted a design intern. The student optimally wanted a fashion opportunity, HOWEVER he is able to use his design skills by thinking outside the box. The example I like to use are ACTORS and their skill. Where do you see actors? TV and film are where they use their skills: in commercials, stage plays, audiobook character voices, and  games voice over work. So when you this of your career think of where you would like to be and how you need to build that foundation and using your skills in the most unlikely places.
